This photodocumentary explores Blue Skies Farm, a small horse farm on the outskirts of Hillsborough, North Carolina, and the community that has grown around it. Founded in 1996 by Deborah Pearson-Moyers and Peter Moyers, the farm is rooted in natural horsemanship, but what drew me in was something less tangible – the sense of connection that keeps people coming back, sometimes years later.

Through these images, I focused on the quiet, everyday moments that define the space: the rhythm of morning routines, the physical labor behind the scenes, and the relationships between riders, horses, and each other. Blue Skies is not just about learning to ride, it’s about patience, trust, and the kind of bonds that build slowly over time.

At its core, this project is about what happens in ordinary days when they are shaped by genuine care and shared purpose. It asks how a place becomes a home, and how passion, when it’s the culmination of a lifelong dream, can create something that lasts far beyond the work itself.
